Miners Rock the House at Curling Bonspiel

On Wednesday night, the North Shore Winter club played host to the Annual Roundup Curling bonspiel.
Although distant from the Roundup hub at the Westin Bayshore, all of the enthusiasm and positivity of the conference was present at the bonspiel. This light hearted and fun event is the perfect opportunity for first time curlers to hit the ice.
Brian O’Connor of AMC Consultants noted that their company has taken to making the bonspiel an annual event. “Over the years we’ve introduced seven Australians to the sport of curling” says Brian. Who would have thought Roundup would do that!
Golder Associates employee Janis has only been on the job for a few weeks, but she wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to hit the rink. For Janis it was an obvious choice, since the bonspiel “was a way to meet people, and I always wanted to try curling.”
Although there is a silver cup for the top rink, the Roundup Bonspiel a fun filled event, and all Roundup delegates, irrespective of curling experience, should consider it next year. As Scott Williamson of Boart Longyear said, “the Bonspiel is like drill rigs, it’s never too early to book 2012.”
Special thanks from this blogger goes out to the guys at AMC Consultants for letting me fill in for a game and trip, slip and slide my way up and down the ice with them. Best of luck next year to all the rinks.

In the slip and play of words we find, yes violence and power at work, but also poetry and new meaning.
