Today’s Face of Mining: Catharine Farrow, Executive Vice President, Quadra FNX Mining Ltd.

I checked out Wednesday afternoon's technical session, Canadian Exploration Highlights, at Roundup 2011. The list of speakers reflected the industry's best in technical know-how from junior companies like Sabina Gold and Silver Corp. to top senior companies like Goldcorp Inc.

But who impressed me the most was Catharine Farrow of Quadra FNX Mining. A mining company with over a 2.6 Billion Market Cap. She was the only female of eight speakers. For an industry that is predominately male I think Catharine Farrow is the face of mining today. For myself, a non geological/technical type, she was a captivating speaker. She is a P. Geo and holds a Ph. D. As well, she is head of Technical Services and Project Evaluation for Quadra FNX Mining Ltd.
