Policy Forum Engages AME BC’s Members in Policy Development
AME BC held its first members' policy forum on Monday at Roundup 2010. The forum, designed to engage AME BC's thousands of members in policy development, was piloted through a review of the Association's first five Guiding Principle documents.
Members also reviewed the Association's priority issues for 2010-11. The AME BC executive, board and staff will use these priorities to direct their activities and lobbying of government in the year to come. AME BC President & CEO, Gavin C. Dirom, said, "This is our inaugural policy forum. In future years I hope to see over 500 of our members in the room debating policies generated by either by members themselves, regional exploration groups, or our volunteer committees. As we move into the 21st century it is essential that our annual goal and objectives reflect the will of our continually growing membership. This way our association stays relevant and vibrant."
