Land of the Midnight Sun at Roundup
If you see a moose casually walking by the Rio Tinto Cafe at Mineral Exploration Roundup it’s only because it’s Alaska Night here at Mineral Exploration Roundup! Tonight at 7:00, in the Marine Room, get exposed to the north and celebrate the many exciting projects on the go in this beautiful state.
Alaska not only offers stunning views of Russia, but also offers great opportunities in mineral exploration. Mining Section Chief Rick Fredericksen wants to “let the world know that Alaska is friendly to mining!” The Department of Natural Resources comes to Roundup every year for the opportunity to catch up with the many Canadians invested in Alaska’s resource industry.
Zinc is their primary source of mineral revenue, but Alaska is best known for all that gold! There is a lot of excitement about the Livengood project by International Tower Hill in the Fairbanks area. This looks to be a huge deposit of gold, which means good things for the surrounding communities.
The exciting new project at Donlin Creek by NovaGold and Barrick is expected to produce one million ounces of gold each year! Rappers will be lined up all the way along the Alaska Highway waiting to get their hands on all that bling. Think of all those golden mouth grillz reflecting the midnight sun; just beautiful.
